Thank you Jacqueline.
I've found my cousins family tree on ancestry
Apparently Alice Ball married (my great great grandfather) John Leese who died in 1864
Alice then married Sylvanus Cyples in 1867

I have Henry Leeses wedding certificate and they all lived a 14 Sutherland Place.

I would like to know which factory the all worked in.
That would be interesting :-D

Ps
The black and white photo on hear is of me and my grandad John Leese. Henry's Son

Look at ALL the records posted on here (and the comments).....and evaluate the info systematically

Henry's father must have died.........unless Alice's marriage to Cyples was bigamous

Look for a death in the district in which they were living in 1861

Hi everyone
I'm new to this, but I've just started looking into my family tree.
I'm a little stuck and puzzled. This is what I've got so far.

My grand father was John leese. Born in Longton in 1899
Married my Gran Ann Coburn in 1923 in Ossett
So my Great Gand Parents are Henry Leese and Matilda Hanson and they lived at 14 Sutherland Place, Longton

My problem is Sylvanus And Alice Cyples, according to the censer 1901 they also lived at 14 Sutherland Place with them.

The bit I can't understand is What happened to Henry's father if Alice was his mother
:-S

Hi

Than you all for information you have given me

I have been looking at in more detail and into it further, It does look like John Leese was born illigitamitly. ( I will order is birth and marriage cert )

Let take it that the info given early is correct, And elizabeth Leese is John mother John then has is mother name has is suremane. Elizabeth Leese in cences records is down has living with Alice Cyples ( Who l take is her mother) and Sylvanus Cyples has her step father. However in the 1871 cences

Name: Elizabeth Leese
Age: 19
Estimated birth year: abt 1852
Relation: Stepdaughter
Mother's name: Alice Cyples
Gender: Female
Where born: Longton, Staffordshire, England
Civil Parish: Stoke upon Trent
Ecclesiastical parish: St James
County/Island: Staffordshire
Country: England
Registration district: Stoke Upon Trent
Sub-registration district: Longton
ED, institution, or vessel: 18
Household schedule number: 83
Piece: 2876
Folio: 70
Page Number: 17
Household Members:
Name Age
Sylvenus Cyples 36
Alice Cyples 43
George Leese 21
Elizabeth Leese 19
Sarah Leese 19
Emma Leese 15
Mary Ann Leese 12
Albert Leese 7
Henry Leese 7

Is it that Alice was married before to a man with surename Leese and the chidren are these and he possible died, divorced, etc and she married Sylvaus and he took on the Alice and the 7 kids

Or

Are they marked down in the census wrong and they are in deed Alice and Sylvanus children

This family is a mystery to me l just dont seem to be able to crack it

Thanks

Amanda

No father named, so that's very conclusive

As with Sarah, look for him in 1881

Much more fun to find info yourself

If that doesn't prove conclusive, a copy of his marriage cert would probably help
