My grandmother was born on 10th May 1914, but I have no idea where or who her parents were. Her father was not named on her marriage certificate and she never spoke of her family. I've been searching on and off for 25 yrs. If anyone has come across her or can offer any resource to try (before the next census) I'd be very grateful. :-)

What was her age on the marriage cert? does it match the year you have for her birth?
who and where did she marry.

Just supposing for a moment that her birth year was not known?

This Dorothy's father was a widower, if he could not cope with two very young children it is possible that Dorothy grew up elsewhere?

I'm not sure the death that Mavis posted is the Dorothy that we are looking for

There is a death in Chelmsford which matches the probate details and the 1929 marriage

And Dorothy did not know who her father was.........as stated at the outset
