Thank you all so much, I am now well on the way to finding my family. I am new to this and did not really know where to start. Any hints always welcome. :-)

As you have ancestors from Essex it will be worth familiarising yourself with the SEAX site http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/Default.aspx

When you are sufficiently familiar with the site you can take out a 24 hour subscription to the site (£5). This will allow you to browse the images of CofE baptisms, marriages and burials in most Essex parishes.

You can download relevant images to your PC. In the case of post 1837 marriages it is the same information that you get on GRO certificates and usually has the image of the actual signatures of the participants (if they could write).

hastingwood, for 'born approx 1890' and the like

do check freebmd to get accurate info

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

the same problem arose in your other thread where we seem to have been searching for a nonexistent person ... any further thoughts?

Hi
Many thanks for all information. I am still not sure what I am doing, but practice makes perfect.
How do I find infant deaths? Hedges, Theydon Mount, 1921 ish? :-S

I have had a look at the parish burials for several of the nearby parishes and have not seen any Hedges deaths. There are relatively few church burials around then so burial was probably in a municipal cemetery.

I did find the following Perry burials:

Mary Ann Perry age 87 of 10 Tidy's Lane, Epping at Coopersale on 15 Dec 1927.

George Perry of Harlow age 89 at St Mary & St Hugh Harlow Dec 1921.

Hannah Perry age 65 at Stanford Rivers on April 21 1922.
