That death record sounds correct. It would be interesting to get a copy of the death cert. Does anyone know the information given on american death certificates? Do they name the parents or give occupations?
thank you everyone for all your help. It is very much appreciated :-D

This version has the DOB a year out, but is the same person - same SS number:

Catherine Hunter
in the U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014

Name: Catherine Hunter
SSN: 563-12-6968
Last Residence:
90806 Long Beach, Los Angeles, California, USA
BORN: 4 May 1900
Died: Apr 1968
State (Year) SSN issued: California (Before 1951)

90806 isn't a house number, it's the Long Beach zip code.

California death certificates should have the following information:

Cause of death
Address
Place/date of birth
Occupation
Spouse/marital status
Parents

Obtaining a death certificate is another matter!

Doesn't seem like I would qualify to be able to get a copy of the death certificate. I may have to try and find death or obituary notices in Los Angeles news papers if I can locate any on microfilm.
