Morning All,

Could some kind person please look on census's records for Richard Jackson born abt 1797 living in Beckingham, near Newark in Nottinghamshire he died in 1874, would like to know where he put place of birth.

The thing is I have 2 Richard Jackson's born Bulwell one in 1796 son of John and Mary the other born 1799 son of Luke and Hannah, one went to live in Blackley Lancashire died 1884 I think this is the son of Luke but there is a tree on Ancestry that says he went to the Newark distract and died in 1874 but I think that could be the son of John. Ages at death puts me right but would like to rule out the Beckingham one.

Sorry if it sounds confusing :-(

Thank you for any help given on this

Wendy

Thank you, it doesn't look like the one from Bulwell then, so can rule him out.

JACKSON Richard 77 Newark 7b 221

27 December 1873 - Grantham Journal - Grantham, Lincolnshire, England

BECKINGHAM.
Shocking Accident - An inquest was held at this village, on Tuesday, before F. Malim, Esq., deputy coroner, touching the death Richard Jackson, aged seventy-seven - On the 18th inst., the deceased had been drinking at the Swan public-house, and left in the evening at about six o'clock with a man named Thomas Dickinson. It was very dark at the time, and when proceeding along the village street, the mail cart to Newark came up, and when not being able to get clear of it, they were both knocked down, and run over, the injuries to Jackson being of a very serious nature, and resulted in death on the 22nd. Verdict, accidentally killed.

Always a good idea to check out information from other peoples trees.

I noticed a member on Ancestry has my Grt Grandfathers brothers married off with 7 children.

Odd because he died at the age of 11. :-D

hi Marie,

Yes I did say he died in 1884 and age at death puts his birth as 1799, I do think that he is the son of Luke and Hannah, also two of his borthers went to live in Lancashire too.

Hi Marie, Dea & Pickles,

Thank you so much for your help, yes Marie that looks like the one in Beckingham. It makes sense that the one in Blackley is the son of Luke. Cannot find what happened to the Richard born 1796 son of John, I know he married in Bulwell in 1825 but his wife and son both died 1826 Bulwell.

Thank you for all your help.

Wendy

It would seem most likely that 'your' Richard in Blackley is the son of Luke and Hannah, given that he named 2 of hisd children Luke and Hannah - can't find any proof though, as yet.

Thank you Dea,

Yes his wife Hannah died in 1826 and on his son's Christening 1826 he was a Labourer, the son also died and was buried on same day as Hannah.

I'll have to look at the marriage to Hannah and see if there is any clues but I still think he's the son of John but will keep an open mind for now.

All the best
