That's what my son is trying to do.. I know his partner would be so happy with that because he was born in his parents 40's and he thinks he was an IVF baby... It would be great to mark his mum and dad in some way as none of them can be here to see his big day .. Thanks for everyone's help x

Not sure if this would help but if you live in the area could you look up old electoral rolls perhaps in the library to see when the 1st time they were together

Hi Wendy

Perhaps if you later discover if and when his parents married........they could set their wedding day on that same day.

How exciting! :-D

Wendy Report 19 May 2015 13:48

That's actually a really good idea, on her birthday... It has since been suggested that they holidayed in Barbados and Bermuda.. Does anyone have any idea where I would be able to search their records xx

If no marriage is found maybe your son would like to think about proposing on Dona.s birth date instead.

August isn't too far away :-D

Perhaps his mother had been married before?

I am drawn to this marriage but it may be a complete red herring and I haven't time to follow it up at the moment.

It does look as if either they weren't married, or they married somewhere which isn't covered by Familysearch, Scotlands People, or Ancestry's records.

Re Brian's birth, there's the birth of a Brian Simmons in Wakefield, Yorkshire, Jul/Aug/Sept 1947, which would fit the DOB you've given.
I won't post it here, in case it's a completely different person who may be alive.

Anyway, it doesn't help with the marriage question, I'm afraid.

Maybe he was adopted, and his birth registered under a different name.

According to Gerald's tree on Ancestry, the brother Leo James Mcevoy died in Ontario, Canada in 2002.

I can understand that Wendy.

Unless they married outside of England and Wales........there is not a marriage registered for them unfortunately.

without having to go into too much detail..... my Son does not want to ask as his partner still gets very upset when he talks about his Mum and Dad.. he cannot just come out with the one question without talking about the subject... So We have thought about this route but it is not an option at the moment. I dont mean to sound unappreciative however I always get negative comments on here from 1 person because there is always 1 !!

if you ccant help me that is absolutely fine. just dont comment please......
