Hi, following on from this, I think I have established that Philip Holmes & Alice Short had 2 children Judith (born 1934) & Stephen (born 1937). Would somebody be able to confirm for me that Judith married ? Weakford & had 2 children Ian & David? Also did Stephen Holmes marry & have any children? Many thanks. :-)

While there is certainly a marriage for someone named Judith Holmes to Weakford, only by getting a copy of the cert will you know if it's the same Judith

What is your connection..............if any.......to this family?

Carol Report 11 Jun 2015 22:04

Hi Jaqueline, I believe that Judith's father (Philip Holmes) may have been my grandfather.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 11 Jun 2015 22:05

There IS a birth for Ian

BUT..........these people are living and may not wish to be discussed on here

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 11 Jun 2015 22:06

Through which of his children?

You should be working back from yourself...........

Carol

Carol Report 11 Jun 2015 22:07

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realise that would be a problem. If I can find any details I would like to contact one of them directly.

My mum who I suspect was his illegitimate child born before Judith & Stephen, so there is no record as on mum's birth certificate of Philip.

I would think very carefully before attempting to contact any of these people, who are unlikely to be aware of your mother's existence.

I understand that you would wish to have contact with what MAY be relations on your birth father's side, but it is a minefield, to be realistic.

I presume your mother - or someone else - gave you the name of the person reputed to be your biological father

Carol

Carol Report 11 Jun 2015 22:53

Yes, my mum was given this name. It is (maybe) her father - so my grandfather.

You must think I'm losing the plot..........probably am!

Was thinking about this while trying to get to sleep..............and I just had to come back to say I realise that I missed out a generation in the latter two paragraphs of my post.

Back to bed now..................
