Other than purchasing the BC, the only option is to try and find a baptism record.

There is a chance that the child wasn't baptised, and it's highly unlikely that 1950's images would be on line. You'd need to look at all available church records locally probably In person. Even then there is no guarantee that a baptism took place in a 'local' church. .

Cheaper to buy the BC ;-)

Can I just point out that there won't normally be a church baptism record for a child of the Jewish faith.........which is matriarchal

Grandma was Jewish - Dad was baptised.

Further back some parts of the family had their children baptised but on the 1911 declared themselves Jewish and British subjects

Like all matters of religion - its down to personal belief and circumstances.

Valid point.........and of course the situation in the CI at the time may have made it the pragmatic option.......

Hello Julie
Have you had any luck with your research?
We've just starting looking for family members and I believe my farther is the first child of Barbara Phoebe Abraham and Wilfred Henry may , from her first marriage.
Kind regards Emma May.

Julie probably won’t be looking now for responses on this 9-year-old thread. Click on her name and send a message and if she still uses the e-mail she registered with GR, she will be notified

Regarding your research…..do you have your father’s birth cert? It will confirm the names of his parents

So you KNOW who his parents were (that wasn't clear from your wording)...............if you read the first page of this thread, you will see that someone has posted his birth registration ;-) ;-)

I'm sure Julie will be delighted to hear from you..............if she is able to receive your message
