well my goodness, that is you done and dusted then! :-D

Effort and patience on our side and yours. You have done well.

I should think having family on both your parents' side where before you had none at all will indeed change your life. Best wishes to you all!

HI all
First can I just say that I am not great with tech so some of this is hard for me to follow sometimes,I got my self so excited when I thought you had found the details of my mother, this was my fault, getting too far ahead of myself after the success of finding my siblings earlier on this year,so apologies to you all for past and no doubt future mistakes.
Elizabeth, I have just rang both numbers you kindly found for me but up to now no reply, but I will keep trying.
I would be interested in finding any blood relatives on my mothers side, once I talk to a cousin they may be able to head me in the direction of siblings.
3rd april1958 R D Stewart married Shirley towers. 31 yrs and 21 yrs.
dad living Allan road Ipswich
mum living Renshaw st Northwich
Witnesses,,F L Davies (i think my grandmother)
G I Fuller,,(unknown to me)
dads father,,,Archibald Douglas Stewart,,R.A.F (he died young)
mums father,,,Joseph William Towers,,builders labourer.
Thats about all the details from my mum and dads marraige cert.
Thanks to one and all of you for the help

Had to go off last night, but meanwhile awaiting a reply from Roy, just to recap I had previously sent a possible probate record for Shirley, as per the death posted by Mary.

Found an address for one of the cousins ( Lightfoot side) up to 2013 before going off last night so thought we should see if Roy wants to go down that route before checking further?

I took on board the last time I got in trouble for not posting the index record and as I said I get info from Ancestry which won't let me copy and paste.
I do know how to copy and paste.

When I find info that others haven't surely it is better to post said info any way that I possibly can.

sisters unfortunately deceased as well

Name: Edith Knight
Birth Date: 17 Feb 1939
Date of Registration: Nov 2005
Age at Death: 66
Registration district: Manchester
Inferred County: Lancashire

Name: Mary Lightfoot
Birth Date: 31 Jul 1933
Date of Registration: Jan 1998
Age at Death: 64
Registration district: South Cheshire
Inferred County: Cheshire

btw Rose we know the Ipswich marriage is correct because Roy knew both his parents' names from his birth cert

the youngest sister is Barbara, no middle name ... Rose did you have an idea as to which marriage it is? 1962 if she was very young? (birth soon after)

that couple is on the electoral roll but only to 2013

and there is no listing at BT on line (the D in Northwich is not the right person)

Roy both Edith and Mary had children, your cousins, and it should be possible to find at least one if you want to be in touch with Shirley's family

and Roy I would get Shirley's death certificate, since she and your dad separated soon after your birth it is possible that she partnered again and even had other children, and the death certificate might name a family member

Name: Shirley Stewart
Birth Date: 30 Nov 1936
Date of Registration: Dec 1999
Age at Death: 63
Registration district: South Cheshire
Inferred County: Cheshire
Register Number: A4B
District and Subdistrict: 3411A
Entry Number: 30

(Mary you put this above on this page as has been mentioned before it is a lot easier for everyone to see the info if it is reproduced in the index record form from one site or another, although yes preferably not whatever site it is whose format comes out a monitor-length long if not edited)

When I came back to the thread to see new posts, I looked at the first post and thought, hold on, another case where we took the info (Shirley's place of birth Mansfield) as gospel but it was really just a guess based on what is at freebmd, so it was another big circle? all that effort to search for a red herring ....... starting back in the previous thread where the advice in January was to get the marriage certificate (which is when I already sent the details that Rose sent again this month) ....... aaiiee

Roy you really had no reason to believe your Shirley was born in Mansfield? except for it being in the county where you were born I guess ...

anyway it looks like this is the right track and the right Shirley now, sadly deceased.

the 1939 record really does say 'Towers' in the image, not 'Tores', of course.

Rambling Report 25 Apr 2016 21:22

Sylvia, Roy has PMd me with the info that father on the marriage cert is "Joseph William Towers,he was a builders labourer." So that would seem to confirm this 1939 reg entry I posted earlier.

Towers Household (6 People)
14 Renshaw Street , Northwich U.D., Cheshire, England

Joseph W Towers 30 Jul 1899 General Labourer
Lilian Towers 10 Apr 1910 Unpaid Domestic Duties
Mary Lightfoot (Towers) 31 Jul 1933 At School
Sorry, this record is officially closed. Check if you can open a closed record.
Shirley Stewart (Tores) 30 Nov 1936 Under School Age
Edith Knight (Tores) 17 Feb 1939 Under School Age

Wow, lots of info,
Mary, I have never had any info on my mum except her name on my birth certificate,I was always under the impression that she died when I was a baby so as I have said before nothing would surprise me.
My dad was an Ipswich man, but he often worked away as a welder so maybe he worked up in cheshire area and met my mum.
When I get the marriage cert I will inform on here and see where it takes us.
Please forgive me for keep thanking you all, but it means the world to me so,,,,,THANKS :-)

Mary, I've PMd Roy David with the info on the post, along with a possible probate record. There are a couple of children I think to the sisters' marriages so that might be worth looking into further.

Rambling

Rambling Report 6 Apr 2016 20:52

Her sisters all seem to have married in the general area of Cheshire so no help as to why Shirley would have been in Ipswich, but it's certainly a possible as I can't see another Towers/Stewart marriage.

Mary

Mary Report 6 Apr 2016 20:46

That's looking like the correct Shirley don't you think?

Cheers Rambling Rose.
