Does anyone know if it costs to view a Will at the records office? I have 2 Wills I would like copies off unfortunately I live in Western Australia to obtain them it is going to cost me over $100 with all the exchange rates. I was wondering if there is some kind person who often goes to the Record Office that could look them up & perhaps photograph & email them to me. I am not expecting anyone to pay for these. I know I am being cheeky asking this, but can not think of another way other than paying for them. Appreciate any help maybe someone already has this information in their family tree

I would try contacting the Suffolk records office and see what they offer.

I looked at some old wills in Northampton RO, which it didn't cost me to do. Their copy service is not immediate and I don't live nearby.

They can't photocopy because of damaging the items, but were able to make copies using an overhead digital camera for the cost of £10 each - they were then transferred to me via a downloadable e-mail attachment through a service they call "We Transfer'. They give a 7 day period from receipt in which to download the images before the files are automatically deleted from the We Transfer website.

So, much cheaper than whatever service you are looking at - less than $20, if available via Suffolk RO.

Thank you all for your help,I have been able to obtain the wills for William Snowling & his wife Elizabeth Ann.
I think the connection is with Jane Snowling born 1760 (sister of William Snowling )who married Nicholas Mills. I only had him down as marrying a Jane (no Surname) he was my husbands 3x Grandfather, his daughter Hannah Mills was his 2x grandmother.

On William Snowling's Will he mentions nephews Simon & Daniel Mills sons of Nicholas who happen to be his nephews.

I have now discovered that Ethelinda Harris (nee Stearn ) had children to Charles Willingale. Census 5th-6th April 1891 she was living with her neice Charlotte Dodd at 6 Hengage Lane as Ethelinda Harris then found her under the name of Willingale admitted 7th August discharged 26th September (she was sick ) at the Bow Road Workhouse her address was down as 6 Hengage Lane.

I have sent for a death certificate for a Ethelinda Willingale who died in 1895 aged 80 years the age is right so hope I have got the right Ethelinda
Thanks again everyone
