I am trying to find Edward Wallis on the 1939 Register, and i have searched it within an inch of its life ..with no success. I would be grateful for some fresh eyes to have a look please.

Edward Wallis born c1872 (died 1949). Widower of Lydia Wallis (she died in 1935) at that time they lived at 27 Dorset Road. Edward Wallis was a Wood cutter machinist. At the time of his death in 1949 he lived at 14 Lansdowne Gardens. I do not know where he was between 1935 and 1949.

Thanks

Nicki

Have you found his children in 1939 please? Just in case he's living with some of them.

For elimination purposes, looking on the London Electoral Rolls for an Edward Wallis

1938 – 106 Dawes St, Southwark with a Lucy Mary Wallis
1938 – 4 Strathnaire St, Bermondsey with an Annie Wallis
As you’ve given the names of the children we could probably rule those out.

Did he have a middle name?

On the 1939 i found Edward Albert with his wife Ivy, Lydia is a widow with the surname Harpham, John and his wife Ivy. Henry with his wife Doris and Emily is now Emily Lissner.

William was my grandfather and is in India and Elizabeth is already deceased.

I do not know if Edward senior had any other names.

See if you can find Dorset Close on http://bombsight.org/#16/51.4756/-0.1226
It's a map plotting were bombs fell during the blitz.

1939 only lists Dorset Road, not Dorset Close.

Eventually found Dorset Road on the bombsight map - there doesn't appear to have been any dropped on it, so that rules out it becoming uninhabitable.
