As someone has said previously, your best bet is to look in the parish registers for Buckland and / or Aston Clinton. Printed transcripts are available to purchase from the Bucks family history society. They may also have CD ROMs, they do for some of them.

Also the marriage certificate for William and Eliza which again, as someone has already said, you can purchase from the GRO, will tell you his father's name which will help to narrow it down.

The Bucks FHS have a help desk at the Local Studies Centre in Aylesbury, I know you are in Australia so can't visit in person, but they may be able to help you, or you may be able to find someone who is going to the centre who could look up for you. I think the Bucks FHS have an index to all the parish registers which can make searching easy, but they are only there on certain days of the week.

Not unless his marriage record is wrong, or Stephen was also known as William.

The following Dwight families are in Buckland in 1841.

Mathew Dwight 27, Sarah 27, Elizabeth 5 months.

George Dwight 25, Ann 25, James 1.

Humphrey Dwight 30, Meria 30, Ann 13, James 10, Colley (daughter) 7, Watkin 3, William 3 months.

Stephen Dwight 55, Colley 26, Daniel 24, Jonathan 18, Ann 16.

So no William Dwight of the right age, but I guess it's possible he could be the son of Stephen Dwight.

Just been having a look through the 1841 census for Buckland and it appears that the enumerator has helpfully put the head of the household down as surname then first name, e.g. Dwight George. With the rest of the family underneath e.g. Ann do. This means that George Dwight's wife Ann is transcribed as Ann George.

I noticed this as I was browsing through to look for your family and noticed a lot of women/children seemed to have surnames that would usually be first names.

I'll keep looking.

No, sorry, Eddie, there seems to be no online birth record for him, and we can't find him in 1841,(though of course he might not have been living with his parents at the time, in any case) so there's no way of knowing who his parents were - apart from the fact that his father seems to have been William, from his marriage cert.

You said,
"William Senior that you mentioned m. Elizabet Jordan 1809 but still does not show a son very puzzling "
You have to bear in mind that church records were patchy even at the time, and many haven't survived.

You might feel it's worth buying the CD of the Buckland Parish Registers via the following link ??

Mary

Mary Report 28 Apr 2016 11:34

Looks like a misprint to me as he was down as Charles Dwight on 1881 census in Derbyshire.

Aston Clinton is right beside Buckland - practically the same place.

It still doesn't bring up any other feasible 1841 results.

Just for the record, here's another marriage of a William Dwight (or alternative spelling), in the right area and time-frame:

Wm Dwite
in the England, Pallot's Marriage Index, 1780 - 1837
Name: Wm Dwite
Spouse: Mary Pearce
Marriage Date: 1803
Parish: Chesham

No record of either of those Williams having a son William - which doesn't mean they didn't.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 27 Apr 2016 11:44

This is the only one showing on Ancestry who would have been of a suitable age, and in the right area - BUT there is no way of knowing if he's your William's father or not.
And the family are not in Buckland, where William C was apparently born.
