Oh, I see what you mean, Chris.

No, I can't see a transcription for her, either. (outgoing)
Nor do I see her on the passenger list, leaving Glasgow 22 Nov 1923.

There's a Mary McLuskie, age 21, last address 101 Armadale Street, Glasgow, on the second page of Third Class passengers.
Armadale Street's also in Dennistoun, and just one block along from Bluevale Street.

But no Margaret - how odd!

Could the clerk in Glasgow have written Mary instead of Margaret, I wonder? The record of arrival in Canada doesn't say what her last address was.

The Canadian records don't show any Mary McLuskie arriving on the "Saturnia", arriving 30 Nov 1923..
I think it's been a clerical error in Glasgow.

Thank you both ,

I haven't got ancestry or FMP so can't look at the records, but thanks for look ups .
I use Scotlandspeople as all of my ancestors are Scottish / Irish.
I do find familysearch quite good for Scottish births and Passenger lists though.

Chris -

Search > Immigration & Travel.
Margaret m*lusk* born 1901 Glasgow.

Collection: Canada.

Or maybe it's because my sub this year is with Ancestry.ca ?? (It was the cheapest sub available at the time.)

(just wish I could see it AG, lol, checked 'UK Outgoing' on Ancestry also, just not seeing)

Jean-

the valuation rolls are on ScotlandsPeople.

The emigration record is from Ancestry - but it's also on Find My Past, as Chris says.

(I suppose it's actually an immigration record, as it's a Canadian record.)

(was trying to search for 'Outgoing', Find My Past 1923, but can't make out name of Ship, not what it says on image!)

Chris :)

Edits (apologies, 'Saturnia' coming up on 'google' search!)

Thank you so much ArgyllGran,

Did you find this information on familysearch?
I have just looked at the marriage cert . that AustinQ very kindly found but can't seem to find the information you have just posted.

£3.00 in her pocket, I know the feeling, although I suppose £3.00 in those days wasn't too bad maybe.

Thank you very much AustinQ,

I had looked for her marriage and death in scotland , never thought of her emigrating.

Must be on a roll this morning with this branch of my McCluskeys , found marriages and deaths for most of them now.

Found George's 1st marriage in 1921 in the Calton district .

Also the marriage for his sister Isabella in 1909 also in the Calton district .
She was a witness to both his marriages.

Just need to find Margaret now.

Thank you ArgyllGran,
just had a look on SP at the certificate but sadly not my Margaret, but thank you.

Did find George's marriage though in 1933 in Camlachie district which shows he was a widower so will now have to look for his 1st marriage.

One of the witnesses is an Isabella , looks like Linney, so maybe his sister Bella born 1890 married to a Linney .

I think you are correct rootgatherer,

Just had a look at George's mother Elizabeth's death certificate which George was the informant and his address was Muir Street which I think is in the Parkhead district.

rootgatherer Report 17 Aug 2016 17:06

I think the districts run into one another but I'm not certain. I always thought that Camlachie was nearer the Parkhead end of the Gallowgate and Calton between Bell grove and Glasgow Cross but can't be sure.

Jean Report 17 Aug 2016 17:06

Thanks for link rootgatherer,

I had looked at it before.

George's father John's occupation was Coal carrier on his marriage cert and on the 1901 it is Carter which is the same as George's occupation on his service records, so it does look promising.

I think I will have another look on SP for the marriages in Camlachie.
