Albert Street b15/08/1884 in Bilston, Stafford. He changed his name to Albert Frederick Currell (appears on his marriage certificate). He abandoned his wife and family between 1925 and 1930. In 1933 his wife and son, also Albert Frederick Currell, were living in Regents road, Handsworth in the Midlands.

I have had no luck tracing him. Family 'talk' is that he stayed in the area, possibly had another family.

Thank you.

Andrew

Thank you, but this is the son, who has the same name as his father. Four generations had the same name!

As an after thought, they were/are all known as Fred, and the Albert isn't/wasn't used. I don't about the one I'm looking for though, only the next three generations who follow him.

Thank you. Does the closed record read as Albert Currell? Are there any other names on the record?

rootgatherer Report 24 Oct 2016 11:18

You can't see a closed record. It means the person is less than 100 years old and still living or they died after 1991.

Seeing nothing for Albert Street or Currrell.

Will have another look but perhaps he changed his name again or gave a different DOB

Angela

Angela Report 24 Oct 2016 11:21

Sorry, did you mean the closed record was at Rachel's address?

Angela

Angela Report 24 Oct 2016 11:24

There is an Albert Currell b1881...'my' Albert has been proven not to be reliable with his dob.

That Albert's occupation on the image is navvy not navy.

Angela

Angela Report 24 Oct 2016 11:35

I don't think this is 'my' Albert. He wasn't in the navy.
Thank you for your help

Navvy as in labourer. I think labourers on the roads and railways were often called navvies. Someone else's may be able to clarify that.

Angela

Angela Report 24 Oct 2016 11:43

Navvy is a labourer, I read it as a w not v v ... :-S

Angela

Angela Report 24 Oct 2016 11:51

I'll see if I can trace Albert and Catherine, although the liklihood is Albert the deserter didn't marry his new partner, although I won't rule out bigamy!
Thank you all.

Andrew, I meant to say my Grandad married Doris Blower. I didn't mean the one you found was my grandad. Sorry. That record can be eliminated.
Thanks, Angela

On the 1911 census he was a Baker's Assistant - could this be him in 1939. Age completely wrong, but date of birth the same!
