Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone,

So researching my fathers line and have already hit a wall with his Grandfather Henry Christie. My father was Derek Thomas Christie and his father Leonard Talbot Christie. Leonard married Ada Eveline Tite and they had three children Reginal, Henry and Derek. I have a 1911 census with Henry A Christie and Florrie (Burke) and the three children Doris, Reg and Leonard. When trying to look back I have Henry A on this census stating he was born in Glasgow Henry I found was Henry F Christie with Mother Helen and John as the father. I have also had information of a Henry Christie born in Southwark with a brother Charles and mother Elizabeth A.

Are you saying your father is Derek Thomas or Derek Thomas Christie

His father is Leonard Talbot. Or Leonard Talbot Christie

His birth should be on Scotlands People which is a subs site

Re 1911 census above -

ScotlandsPeople does not show any Henry A Christie born c1877 in Glasgow.

Leonard still living in Southend in 1939

The 1901 census which Ancestry suggests is for Henry isn't the same person, unless he changed his middle name.

Ancestry suggests a Henry Christie (no middle initial) living in Dennistoun area of Glasgow with parents John & Helen.
However, in 1891 he's shown with middle initial F, which matches with an 1875 birth in Dennistoun.

On the 1911 census I have Henry and Florrie with the 3 children one of which is my Grandad Leonard Talbot, on this he has stated he was born in Glasgow.

What is the alternative "information" you have, Derek?

Perhaps he lied about his birthplace for some reason?

You do need his marriage cert to see his father's name.
