Naiomi Report 6 Mar 2017 12:21

I have managed to get in contact with great granddad William's, niece's son.

Who I am hoping will fill in some gaps about Henry Mathis's side, my great granddads brother.

As for my great great granddad their father William Otto Mathis born in Switzerland/Germany I think past that, it will always be a mystery.

Thank you for all your help. I couldn't of found that relative without you all.

Am pleased to hear you managed to get in touch but Rome wasn't built in a day and you may find other leads to Wm Otto from other sources ..You never know what's round the corner.

Just in case any helpers are wondering about the Scottish side of Naiomi's family -

Rather than mix it up with this Mathis / Taylor thread, Naiomi PM'd me some details, and I've PM'd back all that I can find without spending credits on SP, plus some census and travel records.

Have gone as far back as I can be sure of accuracy, based on what she told me. If she wants to know anything further back, she'll have to buy credits to look at images of certs, to find out people's parents' names.

Naiomi Report 7 Mar 2017 14:23

I have just paid for a small search for Scottish side, cost a fortune. Scraping by on min wage. They say times were hard in times of old. My great great grandparents had 4 servants, I can't even afford a dishwasher :-D :-D ha ha

Naiomi Report 7 Mar 2017 14:40

So my nan Violet who married who married William Mathis B.1907

Her mother was Janet Nichols B.1897 London. Married Harry L Taylor B.1894. I think.

They had 6 children. I have all their details.

Then Harry's dad I think was
Herbert Lothian Taylor B.1868
and his mother Mary Little (I think) B.1864 approx

I think he had 5 brothers/sisters
Annie (1892)
William (1896)
Margaret (1901)
Doris (1904)
Herbert (1906)
No further details on them.

Their father Herbert Lothian Taylor if I am right had 9 brothers/sisters
William (1864)
Albert (1865)
Harry (1867)
Louisa (1871)
Florence (1874)
Charles (1876)
Percy (1887)
Ethel (1888)
Ernest (1890) These could be all wrong :-( :-(

I then have Herbert's father as William Taylor born approx 1825
And Herbert's mother as Louisa (No maiden name) born around 1836.

99% most London/Middlesex area. I paid to see some census's and baptism records for Herbert, which is how I have above. If I have read it write. Then looked at free census records to try and tie the rest. (Could be all wrong) <3

1911 census says they'd been married 19 years, which would be c1892.
I don't see the marriage of a Herbert Taylor to any woman surnamed Little around that time.

Margaret / Marjorie was born in Feltham, Middlesex.
This will be her birth :
