You need to get William and Ann’s marriage cert if you wish to have accurate info about his father's identity

Alternatively, this is his birth..............you can download a digital image for only £2.50

COOK, WILLIAM GRAVES
GRO Reference: 1852 J Quarter in CHESTERTON UNION Volume 03B Page 433

...........although, as the Cook/Graves marriage has been posted on here, there seems to be very little doubt as to what his father's name was.

BUT, as I said earlier...........NEVER assume...................get facts

How did you work BACK to these people?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 15 Apr 2024 18:45

In 1891, Charles was a lodger in Willingham and SINGLE

The assumption that Charles was the father of William is only based on 1901 census…unless you can demonstrate otherwise

William’s marriage cert would seem to be an essential purchase………for father’s name.

The 1862 marriage is probably totally unconnected

Golden rule of FH - NEVER presume/assume ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Teresa

Teresa Report 15 Apr 2024 17:35

Yes Erika, I just presumed it was William Father as that ties in with 1901 widowed age 74, maybe he was widowed much earlier and they put single instead!!

Teresa

Teresa Report 15 Apr 2024 17:31

If Charles didn't marry until 1862 am confused as his son William was born in 1854??
Everything else seems to tie up with the census information!! What have I missed??

In 1881, Charles is shown as BOARDER............and SINGLE

I suspect it's Anna Maria as it's her first name..............

Edit.....
Anna Maria married a Howell
Sarah Ann Wilkin married a Charles Cook Marriage date 5 Jul 1862

I don't think it's the correct Charles and Ann
