Also to add credence to the theory about Mary Ann MOORE as the daughter of Wm MOORE & Annie Amelia, but born as LEE in 1899, is the year of her marriage:

1920/1648
Mary Ann Moore
Harry Heatherington Procter

She could not have been born after Wm & Annie married in 1910 to be marrying in 1920! :-D

AND this death in 1991 is a perfect fit for her:
1991/30538
Procter Mary Ann
b. 9 June 1899

Her husband's death - note it is PROCTER not PROCTOR
1975/47705
Procter Harry Hetherington
b. 30 November 1895

births
1883/16581 Lee Henry Arthur. Mother: Annie Amelia. Father: Henry Arthur
1887/6129 Lee Cornelius Frederick. Mother: Annie. Father: Henry Arthur
1890/2727 Lee William Jame. Mother: Annie Amelia. Father: Henry Arthur
1892/10463 Lee George Edward. Mother: Annie. Father: Henry Arthur
1895/13186 Lee Albert Vander Mother: Annie. Father: Henry Arthurs

deaths
1963/36721 Lee Arthur Henry / 79Y
1962/36868 Lee Cornelius Frederick / 75Y [would probably be known as Con]
1966/44538 Lee William James / 77Y
1966/33619 Lee George Edward / 83Y [there's uncle George!]
1951/19567 Lee Vander Albert / 55Y

Eldest son Henry Arthur may have been called by his 2nd name Arthur to distinguish him from his dad with the same name and so the names ended up reversed.

You can find marriages for all the above brothers of Arthur here

Thank you so much Cherilyn. You have made it all so plain and I can understand it all. My head had been swimming with all the information and I couldn't see the big picture.
I also have found an Albert Henry Arthur Lee who died in 1906 and is buried in the Foxton cemetery. I am assuming this to be my Grandfathers father!! I am away for a few days but on my return home will check out the grave and see if there is anything of note on the headstone if there is one.
I am thrilled to be able to finally sort these things out. I am also working on my mothers maternal side and have finally advanced that as well.
I love doing this research but am a novice really at it all. Thank goodness some relatives have done my fathers side. ?? I was working on my husbands trees too but have put them on hold while I sorted my own??
My thanks to you for all your information......I really appreciate it.
Warm Regards
Jenny :-)

Yes it certainly was a lot to take in, Jenny!

Do come back and share if you get some more info or certs :-)

P.S. That 1906 death is interesting. I was actually thinking this was more likely to be your great grandfather's death:
1940/18472
Lee Henry Arthur
85Y

So born c1855...but could be a different chap!

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 9 Apr 2015 11:20

Hmm couldn't resist looking - is it this death?

1906/901
Lee Robert Henry Arthur
9M [nine months old] :-(

If so he was actually a son of your grandparents, matches this birth:
1905/19731
Lee Robert Henry
Mother: Violet Winifred Ethel Mary
Father: Henry Arthur

Cherilyn, your last post on page 1 is a terrific explanation for Jennifer

too often we old hands tend to forget that a list of births marriages deaths doesn't always make as much sense to the person reading it as it did to us when we put it together :-)

Cherilyn, I think that the 1940 death could be my Great Grandfather, and yes the 1906 Death is indeed my relative. He was the first born son of my Grandfather Arthur Henry and Violet Lee. He choked on a hazelnut skin when he was little and is buried in the Foxton Cemetery next to his younger brother William - (who was killed when knocked off his bike on his way to work. He had 2 sons, William and Trevor. His widow Doreen remarried and had another 2 sons, Kenneth and James to Kenneth Pike an American who was posted here during the war and who remained in NZ after the war ended. I used to visit them in Auckland and still keep in touch with William, Kenneth and James. Trevor died of leukaemia in his early 20's.) - and his parents. My mother and father are buried very close by.
My sincere thanks again for making this so easy to understand ??

So much tragedy in one family :-(

So glad it is falling into place, Jenny.

P.S. Thanks JoonieCloonie :-)

Hi again.......just wondering if anyone can find a death date for MOORE Charles Hamilton born in 1910 in New Zealand. Mother, Ann was Lee nee Bohee and father, William Hamilton Moore. They were married in 1910.

And also

A Birth date, birth place and death date for LEE Henry Arthur. He married Ann Amelia Bohee in 1910 She was born in c1867 in the UK and was also the mother of the above Charles. She married twice.

I'm still working on this tree with just these loose ends??

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 22 Apr 2015 22:43

Ooops just realised I have a wrong date there. Henry Arthur married Ann Bohee 1882. The same year her mother married William Mackersey.

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 23 Apr 2015 01:18

Hi again

I'd say this is most likely Henry but you'd need the cert to be sure.

1940/18472 Lee Henry Arthur 85Y

That gives you his approx birthdate. No matching birth in NZ.
Possibly born in UK (or Australia).

Can't find Chas sorry :-(

Jennifer Report 23 Apr 2015 01:43

I have ordered the marriage printout for Henry Arthur LEE and Ann Amelia Bohee married 1882 to see if that can help me trace his tree further back??

Poor Charles Hamilton Moore seems to have disappeared from sight??. I have him marrying a Kathleen Mudgeway in 1934 but that is all I can find.

Update........I have found the death year and burial place for Charles. His remains are with his parents, William and Amelia, in the old cemetery in Levin. He died in 1996.
One piece of the puzzle solved :-)

Jennifer Report 30 Apr 2015 10:11

UPDATE:
I now have the marriage cert of Henry Arthur LEE and Annie Amelia LEE Nee BOHEE.
They were married in Masterton on 1June 1882.
His parents were Henry Arthur LEE and Elizabeth LEE nee ROSE
Her parents were James BOHEE and Amelia BOHEE nee BUSH
The witnesses were William Mackersey and Amelia Bohee.
This then leads to the marriage of Arthur Henry LEE and Violet RAND. Arthur was the son of Henry and Annie LEE except on this marriage cert it states his mother as MaryAnn LEE nee Mary Ann MACKERSEY
I can only imagine that Annie was known as Mary Ann OR that there was a mistake on the certificate and it had both mothers named Mary Ann instead of one being Mary Ann RAND and the other Annie LEE.
Everything else fits including Amelia marrying William Mackersey the same year as Henry married Annie. Which explains her maiden name being Mackersey on Arthur's certificate.
An interesting situation re the names??
I think I have this right!!!

Cherilyn Report 1 May 2015 01:29

Looks good to me! Interesting that Wm and Amelia were the witnesses, but Amelia was still Bohee - they must have married soon after.

If Violet's mum was a Mary Ann that may well explain it!

:-)

That's what I thought Cherilyn :-). I ordered and received a printout from BDM of my Grandfathers marriage thinking it could have shown the correct names but it is exactly the same as the one I have from my Grandfathers possessions. This then takes me back to the fact that she either was known as Mary Ann or there was a mistake in the records.

I have now decided to go further back and try and find records for Henry Arthur and Elizabeth LEE nee ROSE. I know I mentioned this in the Australian look up thread as I thought their son also Henry Arthur who married Annie Bohee was born in Newcastle, Australia but it looks more likely it's the UK. I would like to find their birth dates, marriage, children and death dates.Their son Henry Arthur LEE married Annie Bohee in 1882 in Masterton NZ. This Henry Arthur was born in Newcastle?? So at some stage he came to NZ. There is a record of a single man coming to NZ from Berkshire on 16/12/1873 but I'm not sure if this is the one as it says he was19yrs old then but he was 23 in 1882 when he married.!!!
Henry Arthur Lee Snr who married Elizabeth Rose was a miner according to HEnry Jnrs marriage print out.
Can anyone make sense or help me with this please.

Gee this gets addictive but also a bit confusing for this newbie at searching. :-)
