If your message is intended for the person who posted at the top of this page, your best bet is to click on the name and send a message

She didn't acknowledge Elizabeth's help, so isn't likely to see your post on here

My grandmother was Florence Saunders 1878 - 1953. I have some documentation and photographs of Saunders in Uffington.

As you say the original post is very old (2004) and "wifey" may no longer be an active member !

You would have probably been better to have started your own thread on the " Find Ancestors" board but never mind :-)

Hi
I have only just found your reference with this forum...hope you still have the records available for Uffington, Berkshire? I'm very interested in the Saunders family of Uffington - Anthony was born in ?Ashbury and went to work in Uffington for the GWR. He married in Uffington1. Mary nee Fuller - I think had 2 sons - one being my great grandfather John b. 1852/3? who worked as a slater before emmigrating to Australia in 1872.

Mary died and then Anthony married 2. Lydia nee Franklin who according to the Census records I've sourced, lived a long life in the villiage. She was living with her son Richard (a carriage maker) I think when she died...but I don't think in Uffington. If you can find reference to Anthony's marriage to Mary (daughter of Charles?), children's births then Mary's death c 1860 and much later Anthony's....I'd be thrilled!! Thanks in anticipation
Kathy

Carolyn Report 11 Sep 2004 00:08

Hi Paula I would be very grateful if you could look up the baptism of my grandmother, Elizabeth Louisa TYLER, who was born on 16 Feb 1885 in Woolstone. I know that she was the illegitimate daughter of Clara TYLER, but would really love to know if there is any mention of who her father might be as I have a big gap in my family tree and my dad would also really like to know. I also wonder if you could check when Clara TYLER was baptised, probably at Uffington, in about 1866, and any brothers or sisters she may have had. I think her parents were John and Louisa TYLER. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated. Carolyn

Hi Bill, Unfortunately, I've had no luck for you with your Arthur John DeBank. I've checked:- uffington 1860-1872 fernham 1860-1872 woolstone 1860-1880 baulking 1860-1872 bourton 1860-1880 Also looked for a marriage in all of these from 1884 onwards, but no luck. I also checked the 1861 faringdon district index for Debanks, or any variations, but none there either. Sorry, I can't help at this time! Hapyy hunting Paula P.S. Lechlade isn't covered by Uffington!

Paula, I am trying to find a gap in the History of Arthur John DeBank. They were a Faringdon family but for some reason he was not shown as baptised in Faringingdon, all his siblings were. He was born approx 1865/1866. He married Dora Emily Pumfrey probably in Lechlade, is this covered by Uffington?. Any help would be great. Bill
