Lew,

Would Alfred Charles have been registered as a Middlin or a Burke. It is strange that he was born in the year that Adelene Vera married Francis Burke.

Thanks for your help Kerry

Kerry,my husband's family is MIDDLIN.
He is descended from Edgar Ernest & Jean Anne
Jolly. His father was Frank Trevean Middlin & his mother was Leila Margaret McNab,she died in June last year.
A huge THANK YOU to Julie for setting out all the relationships so concisely. It's very confusing marrying into such a large family.Believe me,there are lots of Middlins around!!
I'm sorry that I can't help you with your branch
Kerry, but best of luck with your search.
Cheers, Margot .

Hi Margot,

Sorry about the long delay in answering you but have had lots of trouble with computer and have been pretty busy with Marilyn's daughters having babies and also her granddaughter.

I will be going over the info that Julie did and see all the connections, she is pretty wonderful, thanks Julie and Lew.

I would dearly love to find someone living that is related to Marilyn it would just bring closure to her fathers search so many years ago.

Thanks for your reply take care Kerry

Margo,

Your Ernest Edgar was David Sidney's brother is that right. Well then Marilyn has living relatives out there. You would be lst or 2nd cousins to Marilyn. Please correct me if I am wrong? She has only her sisters, no cousins on her fathers side and only a couple of cousins on her mothers side. Please correct me if I am wrong. Where abouts do you come from? Marilyn comes from Bathurst New South Wales.

Jenny and Robyn both live on the central coast.

Take care Kerry

Julie, Julie,

Thank you so much, I was pretty upset last time I posted on here so beside having trouble with my computer I haven't been back on. I do apologise and thank you so very much for all your help, I thru you can tell Marilyn that she does have living relatives out there. Margot comes from Edgar Ernest which was David Sydney's brother. How wonderful, think of this as a thousand thank you and a bunch of roses.

Take care Kerry

Correct,Kerry.My husband's Grandfather, Ernest Edgar was David Sydney's brother,so my husband would be a 2nd cousin to Marilyn.He also has 2 brothers & 1 sister,all married with 2 children.There
are more cousins from Ron,Rita & Max's children.
There was 1 more of E.E.'s children-the youngest,
Phillip Maxwell (Max) 1921-1994,lived in Croydon,Vic. & Adelaide. He had 5 children,1 of them is a GR member.,I have been in contact with him.If you go to Community,Surname Summary,
& Matches in Other Family Trees you should be able to find other living relis for Marilyn.Check them out.
We all live in Melb., & 1 just over the Vic.NSW border. We are in the Melb.phone book if you want to get in contact. There are 8 Middlin's in there,3 are brothers. My husband's initials are FC.I've only been doing Genealogy for less than 12 months,so am still making sense of all the relationships,so
Julie's info. was very helpful to me.However,my
sister-in-law has been doing this for over 30 years,
& has extensive knowledge of the whole Middlin
tree,it would definitely be worth a phone call or a letter to her to fill in any gaps.(She is not on line.)
I will ring her & tell her about it.Hope to hear from you soon,Kerry.

Cheers, Margot from Melb.

Good morning Margo,

I have gone all goose bumpy and I can't wait to tell Marilyn, I told her on Valentines Day that you had written and she was over the moon as she was on her own as hubby had gone to be with their daughter in Darwin for a couple of weeks before her bub is due and then both of them will go when bub is born.

My phone number is o2 47761249 if she wants to ring me and then once all info is sorted Marilyn could ring her also. My private email address is [email protected]. I am sure that Marilyn would love to exchange photos ect and find out if the girls look like any of their relos. I also have photos of her Dad Geoff and the girls so if you want any let me know.

Take care and thanks for the quick reply.
Kerry on behalf of Maz and her sisters.

Hey Julie just thought that I would update you on what has happened.

Margot has been great in sending photos of her branch of the Middlins which is from a sibling of Marilyn's father's father. If that makes sense. Oops that means grandfather.

And you can see the likeness of Geoff to his cousins and one of the girls looks like Maz's sister Jennifer.

So it has been an exciting few days, and due of course to your diligence in helping others.

Thanks again Kerry

Hello All,

I have just found this old thread and hope some of you are still around.

I am a great grandson of Hezekiah Crago, half brother of Eve Jane Middlin. I have searched all the usual indexes and found the marriage of Adeline Vera to Frank Burke and the birth of her illegitimate son Alfred Charles. I am wondering if this marriage was declared invalid (perhaps he was already married) as Vera was married to her 2nd husband under her maiden name.

I hope someone can enlighten me as to what actually happened. I am sure that my grandmother Elsie Coward nee Crago would have known but she is long gone

Regards
Graham Coward.
