Thanks all.. I have read all the Immigration information...a great source...thank you. .I have found a contact in Australia who has agreed to give me information about Ann, Roger and Frank. Lets see what is forthcoming...all very odd I think. If she knows Roger we might get the truth.

Thank you all so much. I read the immigration papers with great interest..enlightening although still do not know if married to Violet. Or where Maude went. I have found a contact in Australia who knows Roger and Ann so I am hoping for a breakthrough! Will post the result.

It seems that Violet Alice went through a false marriage and travelled to Australia as wife of Clifford Hilton with her two children by him who he registered as "Jackson mother" to legalise them. They later returned to England after his death in Australia in 1955. I still do not have a death date for Maude Hilton nee Jackson and do not know where she went after her mother in law took them over in 1932 to save them from going into care. Her husband was away at sea for most of their married life, first with the White Star and then in RN in war. Then off with Violet Alice to OZ

I have found a death for a Maude Hilton in Oldham..would it confirm that it was her if I ordered a death certificate?
