(and we've had a few of them on here, I can tell you, lol)

Chris :)

(below needs looking at, just adding for now, if relating!)

11 March 1905 - Ludlow Advertiser - Ludlow, Shropshire, England

SALESMAN SENT TO PRISON.
James Charles Mowbray (28). was indicted for fraudulently converting to his own use eight knee aprons, one pony harness, nine head collars, 24 whips, and numerous other articles. Prisoner was found guilty and was sentenced to three months hard labour.

(makes mention of articles stolen from William H. Sturgess and others, trading as Farme's Supply Company, Market Drayton)

AustinQ Report 3 Aug 2016 15:52

I've just had another look for Louisa's death. The 1964 date on the tree on Ancestry may well be correct. The Michigan death records on Ancestry aren't complete and most sites go upto 1952.

If she stayed within the Washtenaw or Livingston area I don't think we'll find the death online (although would love someone to tell me differently!)

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 3 Aug 2016 15:55

This is the record of crime stated in the newspaper (think it's our bloke):

First name(s) James Charles
Last name Mowbray
Age 28
Birth year 1877
Occupation Salesman
Year 1905

County Salop
Court Shrewsbury
Victim's first name(s) William Henry
Victim's last name Sturgess
Series HO140
Source A Calendar Of Prisoners Tried At The Winter Assizes For The Year 1905

He got three months hard labour for stealing aprons, a harness and 24 whips from Mr Sturgess!
