Find Ancestors

Hi, I wondered if anyone could help. My grandmother Ellen Graham was born in 1934 and her parents were Fred Graham and Daisy West born about 1902. Daisy had a daughter called Joan West, then my grandmother was Ellen Graham and they had two other siblings Frank Graham and Phyllis Graham.

I'm massively struggling to trace back Daisy Wests family. Daisy West thought she was married to a unknown man and had Joan West, then found out this man was already married so Joan was out of wedlock. (We don't even know who that other family is so Joan may have other siblings we don't know!) When Daisy's family found out, they disowned her. We can't find out who Joan's father was as it was a huge secret. Fred raised Joan as his own and they never celebrated their marriage because the dates would show Joan to be out of wedlock and Fred not being her father so they never celebrated wedding dates etc. No one knew until Fred and Daisy died and they found a letter that said Joan had a different father.

Because Daisy was disowned no one knew about her family - there are rumours they were rich and had servants but there's no proof to this.

I am struggling to find anything other than Daisys parents were Frank West and Alice Voller. I don't know about any other siblings or anything.

Kind of hit a brick wall and wondered if anyone could help out or just get the ball rolling again, please?

Hmm interesting... As far as I'm concerned and the family, it was definitely Alice. I wonder if either she had a nickname or Daisy West changed a few details.. Odd! She was a very genuine, nice lady though so I can't imagine her lying about it or anything.

However your information looks good and other than Ellen/Alice it definitely makes sense and adds up,

Hi Jan, the area is Dorset/Hampshire sort of area, possibly Berkshire too maybe. And Daisy told her children the names of her parents Frank and Alice and just always known it to be that and the rest of the family agree that's how they know this - maybe they have the birth certificate, one of them but not sure who exactly. I'm a tad lost at the idea Alice was Ellen but no one ever said family history was easy ;)
