I think we should be a little more circumspect about personal details here, since this is not your family, Cas.

Daughter J really need not be named or her birth or marriage info put here.

And out-of-wedlock births in previous generations of the families of people who don't know they're being talked about here, ditto.

I think I wouldn't want total strangers digging around in my closet and posting details like that on the internet without my knowledge.

A little editing of those posts maybe please?

UPDATE
Photos have now been viewed and we can confirm that Clifford Chant b1921 in Somerset is NOT the chap in my Dads photos.

So back to the drawing board. I now believe that the significance of the Canadian address on the back probably confirms he was either Canadian or at least lived there (unlikley born in uk as there are no relevant births)

Have you considered contacting the present-day Chants in Victoria I mentiond?

http://www.canada411.ca/search/?stype=si&what=chant&where=Victoria%2C+BC

also there are only 15 Chants listed in the province

Thanks Joonie. Thats my next step I think.

I think Id set my heart on it being the other chap but not to be but just thought I'd clarify that first.

Now into the Canadians next. I sent a few messages on facebk to a few Chants from Victoria BC. Had a couple of replies but no luck as yet.

Thanks for your help - I shall now pursue that avenue. Will keep you posted.

Regards
Cassie :-D
