Hi Gang, this is what has been sent to me via e-mail any thoughts?

Hi Susanna -- I can't post on the board at the moment, but I thought I'd take a poke at your Jagers-s anyhow. Good to stay in practice!

In the 1851 census, your Jemima gives her place of birth as Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

There's a list of the batch numbers for the IGI by parish that can be consulted here:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/
IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle
(you have to paste those two parts back together)

but I did it for you ;) -- the batch number for Cheshunt 1792-1812 is C072253.

Then you can search in the International Genealogy Index --

www.familysearch.org click "advanced search" click "International Genealogy Index"

within that batch, using only given name. But I did it for you . ;)

There are two Jemimas in the batch, only one of whom was born around the right time:

JEMIMA PEACOCK
Christening: 23 JUN 1799 Cheshunt, Hertford, England
Father: JOSEPH PEACOCK
Mother: MARTHA

Now that's not quite right for her age as shown in 1851, but it does match with her age as shown in 1841.

In 1861 she gives her place of birth as Broxbourne, and an age that matches a birthdate of June 1799 (aged 61 on census day 1861).

The batch number for Broxbourne, for that period, is C072202. There are two Jemimas, both with birthdates way off.

So it looks like not a bad guess that your Jemima was Jemima Peacock.

Not that I would bet the farm on it, and it's no proof. But it's a theory that you might be able to confirm or deny!

If you want to copy any of this into your thread, in case it helps anyone find anything more for you, go ahead -- sorry I can't do it for you right now.

In case you don't know how to find your thread -- many don't -- go to Trying to Find and click on "My threads" on the left hand side. You can add to it using the "Add reply" box at the bottom.

Good luck!
