Christopher was illegitimate born in 1903. His mother was Marion/marrianne/mary anne Holland, daughter of Martin Holland and Margaret Cullen of Ireland. His father was William Gow. His name on his birth certificate is noted as Christopher Holland (later Gow). Although his father's name isn't on his birth certificate, Christopher was a middle child of 5 or 6 boys. All fathered by William. William and Marion (or Mary Gow as she later became known) never married despite a claim to have married on their youngest son David's certificate. They lived together as man and wife till marion's untimely death in 1918 due to a brain heamhorrage. Christiphers father william was born in Kilmaurs and is related to the Ayreshire Gows. I have tracked them back to John Gow and Janet Douglas C1750 in the Mauchline area although I suspect they may have originated elsewhere as there were very few Gows in the area at this time. If you are related to the Ayreshire Gows contact me as we are bound to share ancestors. Ellen Hackett (nee Gow)
