hi, I am looking for any information about the Abram family who were drapers in Manchester. I know from an old photograph seen by my father at my gt aunts house some 20 years ago that they had grandparents who owned a drapers shop some where in Manchester. I am trying to find the conection why my family moved down from Manchester to Cambridgeshire inthe late 1600's. the latest I have is a John ABRAM who married a Mary ? in 1791. they had a son also John b. 1830,s who married a Sarah Ann Circus b. 1832 who lived in Elsworth Cambs this may of been in Huntingdonshire which is now cambs. They also had? Mark b. 1850, Alfred b.1858, George b.1837 he was a Private at Windsor Barrocks ? died in his 30's. and Harriet. John and Sarah had a son called Frederick my gt grandfather b 1860,s Mar Martha Tingay b. 1860,s died 1942. They lived in Knapwell and Hilton (cambs) They had 4 children Louise b. 1894 thisis the aunt who had a photo of her family in Manchester. Ellen who died in 1919 of the pandemic flu, Sidney b 1898 and my grandmother Emma or Emily b. 1896 died 1977 she mar a Frank Swannell they had 8 children between 1919 and 1940. I would be very greatful if anyone could give me any information as why my 3x gt grand parents moved ffrom manchester. t The son John or his siblings must have been my gt aunts grand parents. I would be greatful if someone who knows why would get in touch Thankyou. carol Rosbrook |
