from Brian Barker in Tasmania, Australia. To whom it may concern. From my understanding, there were two brothers who left England (1851-1852) on two different ships to start a new life in Van Diemens Land. The first ship left three months before the second ship. The second ship arrived in Hobart Town before the first ship. The first ship took six months to get here. One of the ships names was the Whirlwind. I believe my G.G grand fathers name was Elijah. Elijah married Sarah Macrow in Port Sorell in Tasmania. Depending from which brother you came from, you were referred to as either black or white. ( it had something to do with the colour of your hair)
