My grandparents are Alfred Barber (c.1852) Clerkenwell and Mary Barber (c.1852) Whitby, Yorkshire. They owned a fish shop at 60 High Street, Stratford, London at the time of the 1881 Census. Before the marriage, my grandmother was named Mary Beckett c.1852 and was born in Whitby, Yorkshire. Their children, at the time of the 1881 Census, were Mary Louisa (c.1876)Poplar, Middlesex, and the rest all registered in Stratford, Essex are Frederick (c.1877), Esther E. (c.1878) and Jessy A. (1880) Barber. There were more children after the 1881 Census. If anyone knows of any of this family or what happened to them after this, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Lesley |
