George BRIGHTWELL, my Great-greatgrandfather, born c. 1814 at Boreham, Essex, and migrated to Queensland on the 'Parsee' in 1857. I am looking specifically for information on two of his children (Mildred and unknown male). Mildred Maria DACE, my great-greatgrandmother, born c. 1816. Daughter of a James DACE. I have found a James DACE at Witham in the 1851 census, aged 60, with a 24 year old wife and 3 chldren. No other James DACE in the 1851 Essex census is of an age to be a candidate as the father of Mildred maria. Thanks to Pamela, who contacted me through GR, I now have some additonal information. Further information also recieived from descendants of Emma Brightwell (April 2005) The 1841 census has him at East Hanningfield Road, Great Baddow, Essex, and indicates that he was born c.1814. The children were: Eliza Brightwell, born c.1838, married George SMITH in Brisbane QLD, but is not listed on the 'Parsee' with the rest of the family. Said to have moved to Launceston, Tasmania. Mildred Brightwell, born c. 1840. Not listed on the 'Parsee', and not able to be found (so far) in QLD records. Said to have moved to Launceston, Tasmania. Unknown male, possibly died in infancy in Great Baddow. Walter, Listed on the 'Parsee' but not with the rest of the family. George (married Eugenie Gertrude KESSELS) and had a considerable number of children. Emma (born c.1845, married Charles SMITH), Some descendants recently contacted through GR. Ellen Sophia (my great grandmother, born 1849, d.1927, married John TUCKER 1873), Robert, died in Brisbane QLD in 1866 aged approx. 15 years. John (married Mary Ann KNIGHT), and Clara (born 1853, died at sea 1857), plus (thanks Pam), Alice Louisa, born in Brisbane, married Thomas Baker MOSSOP and had a stack of children. It is now confirmed that George Brightwell's father was the John Brightwell listed in the 1841 census, gardener at Gingerbread Hall, Great Baddow. His other children (at that address at census time) were Jane (born c.1821), Sophia and Hannah (born c.1828), and Ellen (born c.1834). There might have been others. If anyone is descended from any of these individuals, or has any information about them, I would like to hear from them. Many thanks in advance.
