My gtgtgrandfather b ~1841 in London. A master mariner. He married Barbara ? and lived in Stranton, W Hartlepool. Found on 1871 census. I would like to know where in London he comes from, and his parents. I have looked in vain for his birth in the Family Records Office - looked from 1837 for about 10 years. Also where did he marry Barbara? She was born in West Hartlepool. Have looked in various parish records there.

This is the only marriage I could find for a John Browning to a Barbara. You know, she could have entered the marriage bringing a son with her
