Trying to find out more about an Arthur Burnett, parents believed to be George and Eliza (possibly nee Bratley)
Arthur was born about 1879-80 at Louth, Lincolnshire.
If I am correct about Arthur's parentage, would then like more info on George & Eliza and beyond!
Have just started this search on behalf of my husband. His father was Arthur's son. Arthur married an Anne Tayles from Thoresby.

Thank you so much, so much informatiom it is unbelievable !
Now I need to find out more about George & Eliza Burnett. Obviously George's mother Mary was a widow. I wonder who was her husband and what became of him ?

The ONLY way to be sure of Arthur's parentage is to buy his birth certificate, anything else is supposition that could lead you wildly astray.



In case you don't know, the site for bmds is www.freebmd.org.uk ........ it's a free site

Then you take the information you find on that site, and go to www.gro.gov.uk to buy the certificate for £7


Do not buy a certificate from anywhere else other than GRO or a registry office, and never pay more than £7


However, you do have a problem!


There are TWO Arthur Burnett born in Louth, one in 1878 and one in 1879

The last two numbers after Louth are what is called the GRO reference numbers ........... when you order the certificate you will be asked if you have this number ... the answer is Yes.



I could not find a death for the earlier Arthur for before the second one was born ........... the assumption being that the first one died, they had a second child and also named that child Arthur. BUT as I couldn't find a death ...... that means 2 children floating around out there with the same name, same birthplace, and similar birth years on the censuses.



This means that you will have to be very careful with the information from the censuses .......... until you have got the birth certificate!

I realise the pittfalls in assuming I have the "right" Arthur, but at this stage will carry on.
I have sorted out all the Census info supplied, and got back to a William Burnett, born around about 1796. I am assuming in Louth, but maybe be incorrect. His wife was shown as Mary A ??
I would think they were married around about 1826 onwards.
