Hi Lucy. Welcome to one of the Staffordshire Carter families.
My Carter`s originate from the Bilston area of Staffs/19th C.
Could I suggest you try the FAMILY SEARCH w/site, its free and covers the 1881 census.
I can recommend this but it is run by a religion, the morman`s I think but do not let that put you off.......D. Carter

Hi Lucy,

My Carters are all from Wolverhampton, Ettingshall and Sedgely (but my great-great-grandfather moved up to West Yorkshire, possibly for the mining)

I'd be happy to exchange trees if you think there could be a link anywhere.

thanks
Sarah
