Phyllis Chilcott: originally apparently from the Southsea/Portsmouth area, she was my grandmother and we are very interested in tracing her early family history and connections. If anybody has information about Chilcotts from that area it would be gratefully received; always mysterious about her actual age, Phyllis would have been born sometime between the very late 1890s and mid-1900 to 1910 period.

Do you have her marriage certificate? That will contain some information, such as father's name, if she knew it.

Meanwhile, I have done a little searching, and found just one Phyllis Chilcott born in Hampshire in the period you say.

If that is her birth registraiton, then I think this is her on the 1901 Census ....... it looks as if she is in a home for children. There is also a a St Andrews Nursery for Children nearby
