Patsy - Trying to contact or find anyone who knew my father Charles Henry Colegate who was originally of Erith, Kent. Or of anyone who knew any other of the Colegate clan.

Dear Patricia
I have been asked to research a best Friends Husbands family for a surprise 60th Birthday pressie in Sept.
Although Bruce was born in Newcastle his fFathers family came from Kent.
I am struggling for time and awaiting certs.
His father was William George Colegate b 1906 registered in Elham which covers a large area of Kent,
His grandfarher is Harry Colegate who was agrocer according to William's marriage cert.
I think I have found Harry as there was a a Harry in 1901 that was a grocers assistant.
I think I can jump that gap between 1906 and 1901 but I wondered if you could help in anyway.
Colegate is now a rare name but at the turn of the century its was quite common.
I think at the end of the day all the Colegates in that area are related.
Its just finding out trough who.
Although we all live in Lincs now I am from Kent too.
In fact it wouldnt surprise me if my Jessup or Wolfe family were connected to the Colegates as they all worked in the same Cement works!!!
On my research if you want any help I can pass along info. I have access to most sites.
ont hesitate in getting in touch.
I dont know how far you are with your tree, but Bruce has a possiblity of a Selina Crittenden who married a Colegate and I have a Sarah Crittenden who married a Wolfe.
Do you have any Crittendens?
Carol

Hi Patricia,
I am trying to research my Saunders family.Very little success!
My grandfather Herbert Thomas Saunders married my grandmother Ada nee Whittle in Erith,Kent in 1901.They were living at 44 Northumberland Park,at the time with Ada's sister Annie Hollands.
The witness at their wedding was Edward Colegate. He could have been best man and he lived at 42 Northumberland Park,
He was a bricklayer from Ireland and was 53 .His wife was Eliza and they had several children-Charlot,Alfred,Thomas,Rose,Harry.
My family were connected with bargees in the area so perhaps the 'Colegates'were as well.
My grandparents moved down to Brighton as grandad had a bootmakers shop.
regards Diane
