I am looking for relatives of Isaac Cooke, my grandfather, and his wife, Annie Gill, who left the Cumbrian village of Parton in the early 20th century, before the First World War. He lived in Seaton, Seaham, Co Durham for a while and worked at Seaton Colliery. The family then moved to 35 Grants Cresecnt, Seaham and Isaac moved to work at Dawdon Colliery. Annie Gill was also from Parton and her mother was a Luthwaite from the same area of Cumbria. Isaac Cooke's father was a butcher. Isaac and Annie had 7 children - Eleanor (Nellie), John, Frances, Isaac, Elizabeth (Betty), Lennie and Annie. The last, Annie, who was my mother, was born in Seaham. Eleanor married David Ross, also from Parton, and moved back to Parton where she lived ntil the late fifties when she moved to Peterlee, a new town close to Seaham. I would appreciate any information which might lead me to locating family members. |
