There is another story because in his possesions when he died was a birth certificate in the name of Albert James and one for William Dance both for his date of birth both with father unknown on. We know he had a passport in the name of Dance but that really isn't reliable if he was perhaps adopted!

theres only this one born in bridgnorth between 1866-1920

JAMES Albert Austin Bridgnorth.6a 581 4 1883

i know one of my reles was elligitamet (sorry for spelling) and she has two birth certificates,

have you looked on the 1891 census?

if he was adopted it would have on there adopted son. i'll keep looking but to be honest without the census theres not a lot you can do,

whats his mothers name on his birth certificates?
