I would like to find out more about my grandfather's parents and his siblings. Do these names mean anything to you? HILDA, DAVID, EVELYN, LILY, STANLEY, DORIS, EVA, PERCY possibly all with parents called ALICE and GEORGE DAVIES? My grandfather's name was PERCY Davies (pronounced Davis). He was born in 1904, in Burtonwood, Cheshire, was maybe a farmer/farm hand for a while, then got married in Thryburgh, Yorkshire, in 1926 to ANNIE PEARS (Who was adopted by TAMAR LAW, I believe). They lived the rest of their lives in a miner's cottage, a 2 up-2 down on Vale Road in Thryburgh. Percy was a weighman at Silvertown colliery and a fine St. John Ambulance man. I remember them quite well. I have a list of names now. I am pretty sure Percy's mother was ALICE, but do not know her maiden name. Percy's father may have been GEORGE DAVIES, but that may have been the name of another relation. Does anyone know of a GEORGE and ALICE DAVIES in Cheshire (or Lancs.) - either of them might have been born in Wales, or had Welsh parents? Their children would have been: PERCY (1904, unsure of position in relation to siblings), HILDA, DAVID, EVELYN, LILY, STANLEY, DORIS and EVA DAVIES. I think this is right, as I was told Percy came from a big family, but I might have got the relationships between these people mixed up. Any help at all with any of these names would be appreciated. Good luck with your searching. |
