My link to this exciting surname came when I discovered my ancestors who had military links to India for decades i.e. 1810 - 1946 married into the De Castro family in India.
George De Castro and his wife Maralina were present when their dtr Susannah married John Thomas in 1820. John and Susannah are my 4 x Great Grandparents.
This info was extracted from the India Office at the British Library in London.
The reference number is Bengal Book of Marriages Vol 64 Page 10.
So does this info match any of yours.
I think we are getting warmer.
