My Grandmother was Matilda Devit, born in Newcastle, England in the 1866. Her parents were William Devit, hairdresser and Martha Wilkinson. She married Thomas Joseph Sloan born in Ardylug (I think that is the spelling. The census was hard to read) Northern Ireland. They had 13 children (three sets of twins). She died on 16th. March 1909. The only information on their children that I have is: Edward born 11th November 1894 at 7 Bothwell Street, Anderston, Glasgow Martha born 19 Sepember 1886 at 113 Bishop Street, Anderston, Glasgow Matilda born 27th. Feruary 1901 at 48 Belford Street, Maryhill, Glasgow Elizabeth Taylor Gilschrist born on 24th. April 1903 at 59 Wellington Street, Anderston, Glasgow and My Dad, Thomas Joseph Sloan born 1st. July 1907 at Newton, Shotts. There was another son John (Jockie) who was a bit of a wanderlust. I understand that my Dad was the third Thomas because the other two died and Granda Sloan had to have a Thomas. When Matilda Dvit (my Granny Sloan) died, her sister came back from American and had a 7 foot monument erected at her grave in Roystonhill cemetary. I don't have information on that sistere. Are we connected?
