Trying to trace ancestors of my great grandfather and his wife, they are

John Ashley Evans b1900 Birmingham. Died July 1981 Welshpool or Shrewsbury.

John Ashley Married in Forden Montgomery in 1923 to Margery Ivy Veronica Maggs b 1905 welshpool died 16/10/1954 Welshpool or Shrewsbury.

Their children all born welshpool are

Ronald Evans b 1922
John Evans b 1925
Alfred Roy Evans b 1927
Marrge Evans b 1940
Veronica Evans b 1941
Marion Evans b 1942
Joan Evans b?
On 1901 census I have found only one John A Evans born Birmingham age 4 months living at 10 union street welshpool only with his mother Lizzie Amelia Evans b welshpool age 31 whom is single. But can't find any information on Lizzie Amelia before this.
Think this is the right John Ashley Evans I'm looking for would explain how my great grandfather ended up in welshpool but unsure as this is all the information I have on John Ashley Evans. I don't have any other information about his wife Margery Ivy Veronica Maggs either. Don't even have any birth, marriage or death certificates for them, neither do any of my family.

Any help getting more information on them ie their parents would be great.

freeBMD has a Lizzie Amelia Evans born Mar 1868 Montgomery Volume 11b page 235

Hi Matthew. I am not connected but had a look for you.
The gentleman above has beaten me to it with Lizzie, but I have found the following.

IVY MARGERY V MAGGS born Oct/Dec Qtr. 1904. Registered in Chipping Sodbury. Glos. vol 6a 257.
This sounds as if it is right. They probably used her second name.

Copy of the certificates given will give ages, Father's names and in the case of the birth cert. also Mothers name and maiden name.

I have tried to find Lizzie on other census records without success, but found on the 1901 census that Lizzie lived at 10. Union St. and there was another family at 8 Union St. of John Evans. 61. 1840 Born Welshpool. Carpenter.
Eliza. 61. 1840. Born Welshpool
Charles. 38.(wonder if this age is right) 1863. Born Welshpool. RETIRED Letter Dealer.
George H 18. 1883. Born Welshpool. Barman.

It is possible that they were related so worth keeping on file until you get a copy of the birth certificate to find out who her Father was.
