I am looking for any information about the Goodman family which had very long links with the village of Rockingham in Northamptonshire.(The last information I have is the death of Samuel John Henry in 1982.(4th child of Thomas & Lydia - see below). He was a second cousin, but I knew nothing of him.) In particular, I am interested in anyone connected with the children of Levi (30.08.1837 - 30.01.1925) and Rose Anna (nee Crane)(1.02.1836 - 14.04.1926) : there were 8 : George William (b.1862), Thomas (1864)(married Lydia Brooks), Samuel (bap.1866), Edward (1868), Joseph (1869), Arthur (bap.1872), Sarah Ann (bap.1874)(married ? Singer), Levi (bap.1877) (married Evelyn Manning). Levi and Rose Anna, early in their married life, had connections with Cottingham, but eventually they came back Rockingham. Their youngest child,Levi, was my grandfather. In the 1901 census he is listed as a PC in the Somerset Constabulary, but at some point he left the force and eventually moved to Exeter. This may have been after his marriage to Evelyn. Norman Goodman Two of Levi's brothers, Edward and Joseph, emigrated to the USA. We know that they were there by 1911, but have no information of when they went or where they went when they got to the States or what happened to them. |
