Chris Goopy Has anyone any information on the name Goopy, or it's origins? Our family is in Brisbane, Australia and descends from Joseph Goopy. We have heard of many variations of the spelling, e.g. Goopi, Guppi (most common). We now have the birth of John Goopy (COPE) in Calcutta in 1831. He was the father of Joseph, husband of Catherine McCauley. He migrated to Australia, (when?) Perhaps someone knows of a COPE in Calcutta at that time...maybe with the British Army...?
