I am trying to find any info about my grandfather, Thomas Burgess Hargrave. He lived in Lambeth around 1910 when my father, Thomas Beresford Hargrave was born.
His occupation was a tea traveller but I can find no birth, marriage or death certificates for his name.
Many thanks in anticipation of any clue you may be able to give me

do you know who his mother was?

his birth cert will give you her name - maybe we can trace the marriage using mothers name.

Thank you for your suggestion. My father's birth certificate gives Thomas Burgess Hargrave as his father, his mother's name was Ellen Catherine Hargrave nee Ball. She was the widow of Frederick Hargrave with whom she had 5 children, it seems that my grandfather had the same surname as her deceased husband. I have searched under all the derivations of Hargrave that I can think of, and also under Thomas Burgess/Burgers.
we have a receipt for a sewing machine that he bought in 1915 using the name Thomas Burgess Hargrave so he must have existed!
