Bit of a long shot.

I am trying to find the marriage between John Hawkins c 1821 and Susannah (unknown) c1822. Both from Weymouth. The only one i can find is one in June 1848 on FreeBMD?

The problem i have is that they didn't have children untill c1855 (John) and then William in c1857.

Can anyone help this puzzle as i think it's a big gap? If anyone can help with the marriage date or maybe there are more children that i can't find? In 1861 census she is down with both boys. 1871 there is no John jr? and by 1881 John sr is home as he was a mariner.

They were all born and remained in Weymouth, Dorset.

If any one could help, i would be very grateful.

Tracy you need to buy William's birth cert, details given to you yesterday. This is the only way that you are going to find out his mum's maiden name & know for certain that you have the correct marriage.

Susan Christopher does look a possible match.

In 1851 there is a Susan Hawkins c1820 lodging in Weymouth, no children, unfortunately her landlord hasn't put down her married status.

In 1841 there is a choice of 3 Susana/Susans c1821:

Susana Christopher with her parents William c1779 & Mary c1777.
Susan Collins seems to be living/lodging alone.
Susan Spencer working for Hopkins the Miller.

There were Hawkins children born and died during the period, perhaps they lost a child, and John being a mariner (don't know what type) was at sea.

Certificate should reveal all.

This wouldput him around the right age give or take a couple of years?

Figuring out which year is correct. I will try on family search in around 1816, see if that turns anyone up.
