Find Ancestors

What in the world have they done to the trying to find boards or all the boards if it comes to that.

I used to like scrolling through all the messages and trying to find and came across a few links just by pot luck, now you need to be a 10yr old with their sort of computer skills or not as the case may be to even try to suss out where you want to be.

I've just spent 20 mins trying to access the trying to find boards and had to come out of every message and start again from the beginning to go into the next one - where's the simplicity in that?

I also went onto the help centre but that doesn't give you time to read the options before it goes back to the main menu.

Please go back to the way the boards were - at least this 'old biddie' could nearly understand them - the changes of late are terrible.

The ‘new and improved’ site is awful and to boot they have raised my subscription to £10.00 for 6 months…

My response to that is: Good Bye GR, I’m off to Ancestry.

Which is a shame, as I will miss all you guys.

Hi. I agree so some extent. this new system has some good points but the fact that only minute bits of the oroginal query is shown on the trying to find board, and you having to click on everyone is a pest. Please, someone, put it back to the full letters on each entry so that we can sort out not only our own items of interest and also the items that we are prepared to help with for others.

All this goes for me too, I tried to say all this the other day, and some replies were @ you can do this or you can do that' so I gave up, perhaps themore enlightened were looking and searching when I was,

I also agree ! take the "Trying To Find"
board, people still start of with I am trying to find ? we already know its the trying to find board !!!!! it is so annoying ! especially to me as I like to try and help people. I have said it before and I will say it again ! just start off with the surname, the years, and the location you need help with, then we can see at a glance whether we can help.

I think since the change people have now started to use the Trying to find Board like Tips & Records and not how it used to be.

Poirot.... you say you like to try and help people, yet all i've every seen you do is moan about something. How people do their title is their business

Another "nanny" having difficulty with the new layout to. Didn't like it from the start. Hopefully, GR will take all our comments to heart, and rethink their "moving with the times".

I to dont like this new layout I like to see if I could make a conection, but it is two difficult, the number of answer is new as well

Only good thing is you dont waste time doing look ups and sending private messages to people who have already got the info from someone else.

This way you can see if they are still wanting an answer. You have to watch the date of posting though.

Finding people on 2 year old messages unless you are related is a waste of time as likely they already know the answers.

I also think this new layout for GR is terrible please go back to how it was it is such a jumble now gives you a headache looking up names

I agree the new system is a complete jumble . A pain to use.

as a newbie i thought it was just me told my partner the other day you need an IT degree to work out where to go next didnt know the old system so ive got nothing to compare with but i have really struggled with this layout sounds like i would have been better off with the old one

I Hate the new layout of the -Trying to Find-board.

If i can't see a name i recognise--i ignore most of the posts.

Am I imagining things, but IN THE OLD DAYS, if someone got back to you via the 'trying to find', you got a message.....I recently only found that I had got a reply by going to the original message I put in and noticed a reply added on.
I'm sorry if it is just me...I hate everything they have done too. I used to love trawling through the lists of people with the same name and seeing the occaisional link. Now it all takes too much time.

I wonder if GR has taken a look at this thread.

It wouldn't be so bad if...

A. You could actually get into the site without the 'Oops we must be rather busy, try our other site Friends Reunited - we haven't cocked that up..yet!'. (Sorry, I paraphrased that)

B. On trying to open this thread I got 'HappyGenesReunited error '800a9c68'...
so presumably they're happy to make errors!

C. Nine times out of ten I can't upload info.

D. I never can load photographs. I get what I can only suppose is a 'Happy' error message.

E. They hadn't DOUBLED the subscription.

F. They didn't have a 'Support Team' who reputedly report to their so-called 'technical guys' who either can't or won't respond to any complaints!

In the past I have recommended GR to quite a few people but since the 'New Broom Squad' moved in, the site is moving downhill rapidly so I will be making quite a different recommendation in future and judging by the comments elsewhere in the 'Community' section, I won't be alone!

Bring on Version 14... Any bets on when they get it right?

Must agree with you - but shouldn't GR do their own spring cleaning and delete posts, say, over twelve months old, automatically?

It would also help if people didn't duplicate posts in this AND the 'Tips Board'.
