I have a death certificate for a relative, John Howgill, who died 2 July 1865 in North street, Stockton on Tees, Co. Durham, U.K.. He was a merchant seaman and a wound in one leg resulted in erisyplis. His age at death is given as 37. The problem I have is that I can find no trace of the birth of a John H. for ten years either side of 1835 (I am aware of another John born about 1802)
Any information would be much appreciated; without this link I'm unable to prove a chain.
