Jacks/Preece family of condover Shropshireany information on ancestors/and or decendants please.what we know fron prish records ect is a John & Mary Jacks had a sonThomas JacksC. 1841 m.7 March 1867to Elizabeth Preecec.1844 d.1885,they where my wifes ggparents there daughter Harriet b.7 jan 1867 in condover.m.25 Dec 1889at Pendleton,Salford to Arthur Owen Davies.Tom & Elizabeths other children are John b.1868;Mary b.1870;Jhon James b.1871 d.1877;Anna b.1875;Thomas b.1879;Richard b.1872.we have now hit a huge brik wall after more than 2 years we can get no further ,please can anyone help June & Godron will be very gratefull thank you.

Hi Gordon. I am not connected but had a look for you.
Not sure from your letter if you want more up to date details or the information prior to birth of Thomas.
Cannot help with up to date, but have found Thomas and his siblings, with parents so will give you the details below.

1851 census
Recorded as JAKS in error.I think.
John 36. Born Worthen. Salop
Mary. 33. Born Pontesbury
Mary 11. Born Condover
Thomas. 9. Born Condover
James and John. 6 Born Condover.Twins
Richard. 3. Born Condover
Sarah. 1. Born Condover.

There was at least one more son.
Robert. born 1852.Condover.

Thomas and Elizabeth married Jan/March Qtr. reg in Atcham. vol 6a 867.

1861. Thomas was 19 and a servant.

Thomas. 7.11.1842
James and John. 6.4.1845. John died 28.6.1856
Richard. 2.1.1848
Sarah 7.4/1850

Actual registration of births for the ones up to 1851. I cannot find reg for Thomas.

James and John. 1845. April/June. Atcham. Vol. 18.17.
Richard. 1847. Oct/Dec Qtr. reg in Atcham.vol 18.11
Sarah. 1850. April/June Qtr. reg in Atcham. vol 18 7

Copy of one of the birth certificates, preferably one of the later ones, should give you the maiden name of Mary.

A possible marriage for John. 1839 July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Shrewsbury. vol 1-???175 Cannot be confirmed or cross referenced to get a name of the bride, so you need Mary's maiden name before risking asking for a copy of the marriage certificate, as if it is the wrong one you would only be charged if it had the right name for her.
I hope this is what you want. If correct, then it should give the names of the Father's and their occupations, also the ages of the bride and groom.Ethel.

If you search for marriages in Sep Qtr in Shrewsbury for first name Mary you can see that the Volume Number is 18.

There are 3 Marys on page 175:

Mary Aston
Mary Lewis
Mary Morris

IGI Batch Number: C019052 has

Mary Aston Christening: 08 FEB 1818 Pontesbury parents John and Mary.

There doesn't appear to be a Mary Lewis or Morris born at that time.
