Looking on how to trace my Paternal Grand-father Robert Johnson(black american) born in Virginia USA in late 1800s he travelled on the s.s ausonia Jan 1917 from new york docks arriving Jan 1917 Liverpool docks uk. I have landing papers and a picture of him I know he married or became my grand-mothers (rosina Drake nee Barber) husband partner, and lived in London they had three sons Eugene Robert and Alexander my Grandmother already had a son Harry Drake. He died apx 1926 I believe from TB. He may have been a driver for american forces when he first arrived in UK Rosina Had been married before to Francis Drake who died during WW1
