JONES FAMILY OF BETHLEHEM ROAD, SKEWEN, NEATH 1901 Hi! Hoping someone can help. Im looking for any details on the Jones's. My great grandfather died when my grandfather was 6 months old. My grandad recently celebrated his 80th birthday and knows hardly anything about his dad's family so this spurred me on to find out for him. MY GT. grandads name was Evan Jones and he was born in February 1901. His parents were David R Jones born in abt 1866 who was a coal miner and Catherine nee Saunders born abt1865. He had 9 brothers and sisters in 1901 when he was born but its possible a couple more came along after. His parents married in 1885 at Neath, South Wales. In 1901 they lived at Bethlehem Road, Skewen, Neath. David's father was Lewis Jones and mother Elizabeth Jones, he had a sister Margaret and 2 brothers Lewis and John. David was the eldest. They lived at Swansea Road, Coedffranc. We know nothing really about Catherines family but we think she was born in Cadoxton. My Gt Grandads brothers and sisters in birth order were Elizabeth George David Mary Catherine William Martha Maggie Edith Thomas We know a little about their families but not much at all and would love to know more!! Evan was the youngest in 1901but i think there were 12 children in all. Sadly Evan died when my grandad Thomas was 6 months old and his sister Ivora around 3 or 4 in an accident where he fell from scaffolding at the steel works the date of death is 15th July 1926 so obviously the only information we have really is what my gt grandmother told my grandad. Evan married 10th November 1923 at Siloh Chapel Melincrythan, His wife was Sarah nee Bessell. Sorry its so long but Jones is a nightmare to research and the more information I give the more chance it rings a bell with someone.
